Software Updates:Samsung

When it came to software updates Samsung was one among the most criticized Android smartphone manufacturers among the users and tech reviewers. They were poor with security patch updates and when it came to Android version updates their track record left users wanting for more.
It is not the case anymore as Samsung has laid out an detailed list on software updates for it's devices ranging from an affordable smartphone to the flagship S series and Note series. The other software problem that crippled Samsung phones was the buggy and sluggish nature of the UI(user interface).
Samsung being the largest smartphone manufacturer and supplier in the world had to make things right and they are taking the right steps to enhance the user experience.

Touchwiz UI was swapped with Samsung Experience UI which is now being replaced by a cleaner looking One UI.The Beta update of the One UI garnered huge praise for its fluidity and aesthetics. The security patch updates have also been regularly sent out for the flagships and the mid rangers as promised by Samsung in its schedule. The Oreo update for S8 took a whole long 6 months, which is not the case for the Android Pie update for the S9 series, even though it is still 4 months longer than what the Pixel line of devices from Google took to get the Pie update. Samsung has also promised two years of software updates and 3 years security patch updates at least for their flagship line of devices. There is another practise among users where they compare iPhones to Samsung devices and complain about the lack of software support for years together(Apple generally updates its devices for 4-5 years). The justification for this issue in my opinion would be the cost difference between the flagship phone launched by both the brands( S9 has MRP of 57900 or $719 for the base variant while iPhone XS costs 99900 or $999 for its base variant) hence the software support is extended for a longer time for the Apple devices.
All this aside, things are going in the right direction for Samsung and lets hope they continue to make their software as good as their hardware.
